Did not realize Cordelia was so stacked. Also, Elly is a slut and why is Nero such a bitch?
Milky Holmes II First Impression Grade: C
The first season was stupid. This season looks like it will be just as stupid. But somehow that stupidity is entertaining to watch. If you liked the first season, you’ll probably like this. If you’re not a fan of lolsorandumb then you probably won’t like this. If it can repeat what it did last season I’ll probably watch this to the end, although I’ll feel dirty doing so.

Brave 10 First Impression Grade: B-
I guess there are some advantages to not doing an anticipation list. I would’ve written this show off as fujoshi bait, but it actually turned out OK. I’m always down for some ninja action, so if Brave 10 can fill that desire I’ll definitely watch it. It does not hurt having Satou Rina voicing one of the few female characters either.

So DEEP.
Nisemonogatari First Impression Grade: B+
Well, considering Bakemonogatari’s ubiquity I’m sure everyone already decided whether they will watch this show or not. It’s set in stone that I will watch this and any other -monogatari incarnation in their entirety. The first episode did nothing to crack that resolution. I will say, however, that the first episode was pretty much air—it was nice so see some Hitagi-on-Koyomi-abuse and some invisible-ghost-loli-molestation-turned-zetsubou-sensei-skit-turned-kinda-character-development, but nothing plot-wise happened. Well hopefully #2 will satiate my desires.

She came or something.
Mouretsu Pirates First Impression Grade: C+
Who the fuck came up with Bodacious? Was Radical, Gnarly, Badass, and Super Totally Awesome already taken? Perhaps they wanted to beat Bill & Ted to the punch? Jesus Christ.
Anyways…this show falls in line with Rinne no Lagrange and Zesshou Symphogear in the production-value-is-intriguing and too-early-to-tell categories. So far, not a huge fan of what is happening, but there’s so much that could go so right in a space pirate anime that I have to give it a chance. Also, delicious Hanazawa Kana.

Ai is my favorite, but it’s a toss up between Tsukasa and Haruka for second.
Amagami SS+ First Impression Grade: B
As intended, the first episode was a seamless continuation of the Tsukasa arc from the first season. It follows that there’s no real reason for the uninitiated to watch this without first watching the original. The true allure of Amagami SS are the beautiful characters and the omnibus format. Not only is your favorite girl not left out in the cold rain to cry her heart out on a swing—yes I am still bitter—you have a chance to truly enjoy the other girls since there’s no room for winning-girl envy to blind you to the good points of the other girls (unless of course you’re a Rihoko fan, but that’s a story for another time). After watching the first episode, I’m optimistic that SS+ will be a worthy successor and I’m particularly excited for the Ai episodes.

Itou Shizuka’s playful voice makes me hard; and I’ll get more of it in Amagami too!
Knight in the Area First Impression Grade: C+
I’m not a huge fan of soccer anime (afterall I’m a fat American pig, why would I like that other football). I think the last soccer anime I watched a significant amount of episodes of was Whistle!, which I gave up on about halfway. However, Knight in the Area has a singular trait that I love in my anime: a meek protagonist that will (presumably) man up. For that reason alone I will give this show a chance.

If it was a Symphogear screen, it was probably this one.
Senki Zesshou Symphogear First Impression Grade: C+
Outside of the original Macross, I’ve never been fond of music-as-a-weapon shows. Perhaps it’s just bigotry at this point, but I just couldn’t like Symphogear for this reason. Putting my obstinance aside, or at least attempting to, I still have a few qualms with the show. Hibiki comes off as the typical timid, good-for-nothing protagonist. I was happy to see her step up near the end of the episode so there is hope there, barring a relapse. I also can’t take the Noise seriously; at least Macross had somewhat respectable antagonists! Like Rinne no Lagrange, the most appealing aspect of the show is the production value (overdone dance sequences aside), but similarly Symphogear really didn’t divulge enough substance to make a fair assessment of the show. On the hopes that there will be substance, I’m giving this one a chance; at the very least I will be able to enjoy Mizuki Nana in a singing role.

Wow. Once I wrapped my head around what was happening I thought this was the most hilarious shit ever—then the episode ended. I’ve never been a fan of super-short episodes which is the main reason this was not graded an A. I might have to make an exception here and give this a try.

*slosh*
High School D×D First Impression Grade: D
At the very least High School makes no pretenses that it’s anything but your typical fanservice anime. The main character, predictably, is a douche and, predictably, a harem magically falls into his lap. Kaji Yuuki is using his pathetic Shoe voice 100% of the time and the weird breast-bouncing/gel-sloshing sound effects help contribute to the overall shittiness. Despite its faults, the show managed to scrape a D from me instead of the usual F. The main reason being they were not afraid of crushing the protag’s dreams right off the bat. He will probably remain his usual pathetic self regardless, but at least there is some hope the story will progress in an interesting direction.

It’s like I’m really watching Ika Musume.
Kill Me Baby First Impression Grade: C
Japan really must like their 4-koma anime adaptations. However, unlike the masterful K-ON! or Working!!, Kill Me Baby suffers from that disjointed feeling most 4-koma shows have; especially since this seems to be deeply rooted in pure gags without any continuity. While I found most of the Sonya-centric parts of the episode pretty bland, things got more interesting once the ninja was introduced. The gags were so bad, but I found them to be quite funny. I’ll give this show a chance since the last 4-koma-based show I soured on prematurely, Nichijou, grew on me as I kept watching it. Kill Me Baby has a chance to do the same, but if I’m watching more episodes I’m sure as hell skipping that dreadful opening (which will probably grow on me too…).
