Spring 2012 First Impression Rankings
There’s plenty of good shows this season, but I can’t watch them all. I can usually do about 20 shows maximum, but considering there’s so much American TV I want to watch this season (Mad Men, Game of Thrones, etc.) and not to mention Diablo III and Avacyn Restored are nearing release, I’m looking to cut my anime watch list down to somewhere between 10-15 shows. That won’t be an easy task.
Winter 2012 Anime Season End List
This was a pretty satisfying season. The shows were good on their own, but the season was boosted by the fact that there was a show I wanted to watch every day of the week except Wednesday. Well, let’s hurry up and get this list out the door before the spring season kicks in fully.
Spring 2012 Anime Anticipation List
As usual I’m short on time, but since I missed out on my anticipation list for winter I wanted to make an effort to at least make a list for spring. Last spring had some pretty good ones in AnoHana and Steins;Gate; hopefully this year can top that.
Winter 2012 Halfway Point Rankings
I had this list ready to go two weeks ago, but I decided to hold off a week in hopes of making better informed judgments. A week passed, I forgot to update the list and here we are. It’s actually fortunate that I allowed the two weeks to pass as the rankings changed a lot in that timeframe.
While no show has really stood out head and shoulders above the rest, I am happy to see many more have made it into the Pretty Good tier. As work is picking back up again, I’m starting to jettison some dead weight that I may have otherwise watched.
Winter 2012 Preliminary Rankings
This season looks to be mirroring Winter 2011: SHAFT show dominating with little competition. Sad, considering the lineup seemed to hold so much promise. Let’s hurry up and get the rankings out of the way, shall we?
2011 Misc. Anime Rankings
Now for some fun lists. All lists are relative to 2011 only. Unlike with the top 25, I made no attempt to be objective.
2011 Overall Anime Rankings
Tried to be objective as possible. Due to this and the passage of time, these rankings don’t necessarily line up with my seasonal rankings. Started to write explanations for each ranking, then realized it’s pointless.
Just want to note that I haven’t finished Chihayafuru yet, so if any changes are made to this list it will likely be because of that.
Edit (1/24/12): I did get around to watching Chihayafuru. List has been updated to reflect that. Expanding list to 26 instead of cutting it off.

Fall 2011 Anime Season End List
Finally got around to doing this…
Fall 2011 wasn’t so great. My top two shows were holdovers from the previous season and perhaps the most hyped show, Fate/Zero, was good, but not mind blowing. If not great, this season will certainly be memorable. There was more Working!!, perhaps the most surprisingly good show of the year in Ben-To, perhaps the most rage inducing show of the year (for me anyways) in Mashiro-Iro Symphony and perhaps the most rage inducing protagonist in Ouma Shuu.
Summer 2011 Anime Season End List
2011 had a fairly deep summer season, especially considering of the past few summers only Bakemonogatari was especially notable. Well, not much will approach that level, but 2011 had a strong with the concluding half of Steins;Gate and maybe Penguindrum can finish strong. I also believe that iDOLM@STER can finish as one of my favorites of the year. Luckily fall looks to be deep as well; it is a good time to be a fan.
For the fall season I’m thinking of changing up the format of these lists a bit by breaking them down in smaller, more tumblr-friendly sizes. Like I’ll do a small blurb of each show as I watch them then compile a straight ranking list later. Anyways, read on for the list.
Fall 2011 Anime Anticipation List
Unfortunately, the combination of having to work overtime and uptick in my Magic and video game habits has meant less time dedicated to anime and being able to write up posts for this blog. In spite of that, I’d still like to get out my anime ranking lists for the sake of posterity. A compromise was met at the cost of content detail, but at least I’m getting this out the door before another Fall episode airs.
